"Watching Noah...', 1996

'WATCHING NOAH THROUGH THE WINDOW IN FRED HOCHBERG'S POOL', 1996

Contrary to first impression this is not a multiple-exposure image. The photograph was created by shooting through the window of a famous swimming pool on Fire Island. The residence, owned by philanthropist Fred Hochberg loaned his pool for the creation of a fundraising image for an AIDS event called 'LIFESAVERS'.

One of the photographer's 2(x)ist models, NOAH BRODY volunteered to spend one summer afternoon spinning pinwheels underwater just in front of the window as the photographer positioned his camera lens through the glass pane which faced the ocean, revealing the dune fence in the window's reflection behind him. He focussed his lens towards surface of the pool where several life rings were positioned which created the multiple planes of the final work.

All Open Edition photographs are sold unretouched as printed from the original negative. 'Watching Noah...' is also included in St. Martin's Press 'BEACH'.
