'Original 2(x)ist', 1992

In 1992 famed men's underwear designer, GREG SOVELL, had created a new line which would target a market now known to have major influence over mainstream audiences. The Gay Consumer.

Aware of the photographer's crisp black and white figurative work he approached Morgan to create the original packaging art for his new line which was to be called '2(x)ist Underwear' (pronounced 'to exist').

It would be the photographer's first packaging assignment.

The highly stylized imagery proved not only to be a tremendous draw for the debut of '2(x)ist Underwear' the images themselves were suddenly collectibles. Customers were known to cut out the imagery from the packages and frame them in their home. The underwear became and instant hit and now, bought and sold by two other companies, it is a global phenomenon. Morgan followed with advertising for the company (see 'TRACY' poster), as well as more packaging in both black and white and later in color.

In 1997, The New York Public Library requested these two images (inset) for the institution's permanant archives to reflect the growing influence of the male form and the emergence of homoeroticism in both advertising and fashion during the early 90's.

In the few years following the debut of his first line, Morgan subsequently created over 30 more lines of men's packaging art, from 'Fruit of the Loom', to 'Bloomingdales'.

This is the first time this artwork has been made available to collectors.

All prints are custom printed from the original negatives by the photographer's print-master on the same archival papers used in his gallery exhibition prints.
