'Black Party '98, 1997

In the Fall of 1997 David Morgan photographed 'Four Friends' (inset) from Philadelphia. From that shoot an image was licensed for the annual New York City seminal winter event, 'The Black Party'. The poster received such positive feedback the promoters, 7 days before the event, asked Morgan if he could also produce a video which could be played during the entire 16 hour event on television monitors the screens throughout the club. It would be his first film production...ever.

So, he quickly made calls and was led to the brilliant film editor Doug Dimon at Sony Music Television. He hesitantly called and asked if he might be interested in creating a video using the 256 b/b stills taken at the shoot of the Four Friends. As it turned out, not only did the editor know of the photographer's work, he'd already purchased his own ticket to the event.

In a breath taking 7 days the mesmerizing video '4' was produced. It remains to be one of the photographer's favorite works, with all gratitude to Mr. Dimon.
